New sod gets a 14-day pass
Before laying sod or seeding, ask Moses Lake Public Works for an unrestricted irrigation allowance. It lets you water a new lawn as often as it needs for 14 days, outside the normal schedule. Each address gets up to three a year, so it pays to time the project well.
Three watering days a week
Odd-numbered addresses water on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and even-numbered addresses on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, never on Mondays or from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mowing a little higher and watering deeply on your days helps the grass get through July and August.
The strip outside your fence
Where a fence runs along a sidewalk, Moses Lake requires the strip between the fence and the sidewalk to be landscaped and kept up by the property owner, clear of rubbish and debris. It can be part of your regular mowing and trimming.
City codes change, so confirm current requirements with the city before you build.
