  • Sidewalk upkeep is the owner's job

    In Moses Lake, the owner of the property next to a sidewalk is responsible for keeping it in good repair. The code considers a sidewalk in need of repair when it has a vertical difference of an inch or more, or more than 4 square feet of spalled (flaking) surface.

  • Repairs need a city permit

    Curb and sidewalk repairs require a Street and Utility Construction Permit from the city. The exception is lifting or lowering a panel to remove a trip hazard, as long as nothing around it is disturbed.

  • City sidewalks stay plain concrete

    Sidewalks in the right-of-way are built of natural-colored Portland cement concrete to the city's street standards (downtown's paver district uses brick pavers). Stamped and colored finishes belong on your side of the property line: patios, walkways and curbing.
