Tree & Shrub Care in Wenatchee: what to know

  • Keep sidewalks and streets clear

    Wenatchee's code treats trees and shrubs that overhang a sidewalk, street or alley and get in the way of its use as a public nuisance, and trimming them back is up to the property owner or occupant.

  • Parking-strip planting rules

    Hedges aren't allowed in parking strips. Trees can't be planted in a strip narrower than 5 feet from curb to sidewalk, and in wider strips they go no closer to the walk or curb than half the strip's width. The code also lists which trees may be planted there.

  • Corner sight lines

    At corners without a traffic signal, shrubs and other plants in the 25-foot clear-view triangle can be no taller than 3 feet.

Which trees can go in a Wenatchee parking strip?

The city code lists cork bark elm, American elm, Siberian elm, Norway maple, Schwedler maple, horse chestnut, mountain ash, scarlet oak, tulip tree, white birch and globe locust. Check with the city before planting anything else there.
